How will the world be different in 10 years?

With the advances in technology and connectivity it is difficult to predict. Add to that the current economic and political climate, only one thing seems certain. It's going to change, I think it's going to change a lot.

What kind of education and skills will our children need in the new world to come?

I was reading a prediction about this in the latest issue of Success magazine. Basically it stated that as distribution channels flatten, huge corporations will lose their hold on the marketplace as small businesses and individuals can electronically market and deliver goods and services anywhere anytime at lower costs.

"Soft skills" will become more marketable and necessary as demand for "hard skills" or technological savvy becomes less required. These soft skills include social skills, the ability to form and maintain relationships, adaptability, networking, self-starting or initiation skills, organizational and self-management skills which will help individuals create and maintain their own brands and businesses, many of which will be operated from home.

I've got at least two cents for anybody with more ideas about this topic. It's a bit frustrating to think we're preparing our children for yesterday's world.
